UWI Presentation to AHS JRS & SRS
On October 3rd, Jeremiah Humphrey with United Welding Institute met with Acorn High School juniors and seniors interested in the UWI welding programs. Mr. Humphrey discussed educational and career opportunities and financial resources for students pursuing a career in the welding industry. UWI’s campus is located in Pottsville, Arkansas.

Oden Students Tour SAU
On September 28th, Oden High School juniors and seniors toured Southern Arkansas University (SAU) in Magnolia, Arkansas. They enjoyed viewing the Nursing and Agriculture Departments and many other buildings on campus.

Lyle Named ACTE 2024 National Award Finalist
Congratulations to Mindy Lyle, Acorn High School Family & Consumer Sciences Teacher and FCCLA Advisor being named one of four finalists for the Association of Career and Technical Education National Award category for New Teacher of the Year!
The ACTE Awards Gala will be held in November 2023 to recognize the best CTE educators in the country.
The Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE) is the nation’s largest not-for-profit association committed to the advancement of education that prepares youth and adults for successful careers. ACTE represents the community of CTE professionals, including educators, administrators, researchers, school counselors, guidance and career development professionals and others at all levels of education. ACTE is committed to excellence in providing advocacy, public awareness and access to resources, professional development and leadership opportunities.

AFBF & AHFTH Support Acorn Schools’ Backpack Program
On October 4th, Arkansas Farm Bureau Foundation and Arkansas Hunters Feeding the Hungry donated snack sticks for the Acorn Schools’ Backpack Program. Through a collaborative partnership, the Arkansas Farm Bureau Foundation and Arkansas Hunters Feeding the Hungry organization support schools’ backpack programs through the wild game snack sticks program. This program provides protein in the form of shelf stable meat snack sticks to schools to combat food insecurity in Arkansas.
Acorn Schools would like to extend our appreciation to Arkansas Farm Bureau Foundation and Arkansas Hunters Feeding the Hungry organization for providing the donation to support the Backpack Program!
