Congratulations to Kenzie Daniels on becoming one of two Arkansas FCCLA National Officer Candidates. Kenzie will be moving on to compete at the national level at San Diego in June. We’re proud of you, Kenzie!
On Friday, Kenzie Daniels and Colten Quebedeaux traveled to Benton to take part in the State/National Officer Candidate elections. As incoming District VI President, Colten was part of the State Nominating Committee. He and the rest of the nominating committee listened to speeches and interviewed candidates over the course of the day. Kenzie interviewed to be a Arkansas National Officer Candidate. Both students did an excellent job representing ORSD.

Kenzie Daniels and fellow Arkansas FCCLA State Officers recorded their voice overs for state conference this morning at The Works Studio in Little Rock. Excitement is building as the team finalizes plans for State Conference at Benton in March.

Acorn Archers:
Archery practice will be today and tomorrow. Students will sign up for their time to compete in the virtual regional tournament that will be held in-house Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday of this week. All archers need to be at practice Monday and Tuesday.

VFW Post #4451 Recognizes AHS Essay Winners
Acorn High School students were recognized and honored for their winning essays in the VFW Post #4451 (Veterans of Foreign Wars) 2021 Voices of Democracy Essay Contests. The students recognized in January 2022 advanced to essay contests from the Benton VFW Post, District & State Contests.
The following students were awarded prizes for their essay rankings:
Jayden Willborg, AHS Junior - Awarded 1st Place for District, 2nd Place for State: $150 prize and $1,500 scholarship
Lori Richardson, AHS Junior - Awarded 1st Place: Benton VFW Post #2251- $100
Gavin Strother, AHS Junior - Awarded 2nd Place: Benton VFW Post #2251 - $75
Rachael Weddle, AHS Junior - Awarded 3rd Place: Benton VFW Post #2251 - $50

The Acorn vs Lavaca games for tomorrow night have been canceled. Games will be played on Wednesday, February 9th.

Tomorrow February 4th, 2022 all campuses of the Ouachita River School District will be closed due to inclement weather. AMI learning will continue for students and teachers will be available by email if needed. All of Friday's activities have been cancelled and rescheduled. Tomorrow I will reevaluate weather and campus conditions to determine Saturday's events.
