AHS Juniors Attend UARM Junior Day
On March 12th, the University of Arkansas Rich Mountain hosted the annual Junior Day event in the Ouachita Center on the main campus in Mena. Area high school juniors attended the event that included a host of activities and presentations. UARM Chancellor Dr. Phillip Wilson and Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs Chad Fielding welcomed students, staff and guests to the UARM campus. UARM Recruiter Mike Godfrey started the event with a video about UARM programs and services. Presentations by department staff included: Financial Aid & Scholarships; TRiO Educational Opportunity Center; Concurrent Credit, Career Center, and Admissions; Technical & Transfer Programs, Athletics, Student Life Organizations & Activities, and Student Testimonials. Students participated in interactive games with prizes awarded. Lunch was provided.
Thank you to UA Rich Mountain Staff for hosting Junior Day and providing valuable information for students to be better prepared for the next step in their high school and postsecondary careers.

Ouachita River School District - Acorn and Oden campuses will be closed for the week of Spring Break - Monday, March 24th - Friday, March 28, 2025
The ORSD Monday Program will resume on Monday, March 31st and regular school week session will resume on Tuesday, April 1, 2025.
Acorn Track Athletes Place in Lakeside Relays
On Thursday, March 6th, Acorn High School track athletes competed in the Lakeside Relays at Lakeside High School. The Lakeside Relays hosted twenty (20) teams.
In the 4 x 100 relay and 4 x 200 relay, the Acorn Tigers Track Relay Team of Senior Caden Tarkinton, Senior Fredrick Metcalf, Junior Zane Newton, and Junior Michael Carbone placed 8th in both events.
AHS Senior Aiden Kimp placed fourth (4th) in the 1600 with a time of 4:51.46 and fifth (5th) in the 3200 with a time of 10:58.53 Both times were automatic state qualifying times.
Congratulations, Aiden, Frederick, Caden, Zane, Michael and XC/Track Coach Keith Willsey! We are proud of you!

Acorn High School AR Boys & Girls State Delegates
Each year, representatives from around Arkansas serve as delegates for Arkansas American Legion Boys State and Arkansas American Legion Auxiliary Girls State. The transformative programs engage high school juniors in civics education through mock governmental processes and develop leaders through civic responsibility.
This year, representing Acorn High School for each program include: AHS Junior KaitLynn Ledbetter has been named to Arkansas Girls State and AHS Zane Newton has been named to Arkansas Boys State.
KaitLynn will attend AR Girls State on the Harding University campus in Searcy, Arkansas and Zane will attend AR Boys State on the University of Central Arkansas campus in Conway, Arkansas.
