Rich Mountain Electric visited the Oden Campus today and talked with students about safety with electricity and electrical wires.





Thank you to the Oden Volunteer Fire Department and Southwest EMS for visiting the Oden Preschool. Sirens blasting, Baby Shark on the loud speaker and shooting water across the parking lot was a learning experience that resulted in lots of smiles and laughter.

Acorn Schools’ Host AR Attorney General’s Office Internet Safety Presentation
On Friday, September 30, 2022, Acorn Schools’ hosted Raegan Sharp, Public Affairs Program Liaison with the Office of Arkansas Attorney General Leslie Rutledge on the Acorn campus. The presentation was conducted with students in grades 5-12 and included important information on topics including; internet safety, risks involved with online communication and predators, cyberbullying, digital footprint and apps.

ORSD LIFE PLAN Senior Meetings
This past week, Mr. Jerry Strasner and Mrs.Tammy Young met with seniors at Acorn High School & Oden High School to discuss this year’s Student Success & Life Plan events and activities for seniors. With student success planning at Ouachita River School District, each grade level (6-12) will participate in specific activities that will build on each year to help students be prepared and/or better prepared for life and be successful in each domain area: career, academic, and personal/social emotional development.
Ouachita River School District exists to provide a safe, caring environment where everyone learns and grows in order to be prepared for life.

AHS Students Learn About Careers with Electric Cooperatives in Arkansas
On Monday, October 3rd, John Larucci from Rich Mountain Electric Cooperative met with Acorn High School juniors and seniors interested in careers with an Arkansas Electric Cooperative. Mr. Larucci serves as Member Services/Safety Coordinator/Engineer for Rich Mountain Electric Cooperative. He gave an overview of various occupations and opportunities for students to pursue upon graduation in this career field that included but not limited to the following: powerline maintenance, information technology, engineering, business systems, and careers from other technical specialties. In the presentation, he also discussed some of the environmental situations that employees work in including post-disaster support and restoration.
