Acorn Elementary's Positive Office Referrals for January 23-27.



Last Friday Acorn Elementary were treated to a movie day reward for showing growth on both their STAR tests and last year’s ACT Aspire. Movies were shown in classrooms and they got to spend their growth earnings at the “concession stand”!
We are all super proud of the amazing growth these students made.

Oden Senior Night will be February 7th. Games start at 5:30 and we will honor the seniors and their families between the senior girls and boys game. There are only two games this night, senior girls followed by senior boys.

Oden basketball announcement:
The game against Acorn Friday, February 3rd has been canceled. Coach Kennedy and I are currently working on a schedule to make up some conference games. I will post as soon as we have something figured out. Everyone stay safe!

Acorn Students Essay Winners
In December 2022, the Mena Elks Lodge 781 conducted their annual Americanism Essay Contest for students in grades 5th - 8th. The theme for this year’s essay contest was, “What is Your American Dream”.
From Acorn High School, eleven (11) students submitted essays and will receive certificates. Four (4) of the students will be advancing to State competition with their essays. The Acorn High School students that will be competing at State include: (l to r) Madelynn Auer, Taylar Kesterson, Addi Ledbetter & Owen Wasif. Acorn High School 7th & 8th Grade History Teacher Andy Arnold coordinated the essay writing activity with Phyllis Caldwell of the Mena Elks Lodge 781.

Reigning Queen Kiersten Larucci presented the Queen’s necklace and crown as she crowned Senior Queen Paige Parnell. Queen Paige Parnell shared her sentiments and gratitude to the student body for their vote and support as this year’s AHS Homecoming Queen.
Acorn vs Murfreesboro homecoming basketball included junior girls, senior boys and senior girls games.
Homecoming festivities also included a dance held on Saturday, January 14th.
