ORSD Spotlight on Alumni! Acorn High School Alumnus, Justice Neufeld is a sophomore at the University of Arkansas Little Rock and is a member of the UALR Trojan Men’s Cross Country Team. Justice received multiple awards in the Ohio Valley Conference. One as a member of the UALR Men’s Cross Country Team that received the Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) Team Academic Achievement Award. Second, he is one of nearly 125 student athletes named to the 2022-2023 OVC Commissioner’s Honor Roll. Third, he is one of over 20 student-athletes who have been awarded the 2022-2023 Academic Medal of Honor from the Ohio Valley Conference that earned a 4.0 GPA for the year. Congratulations, Justice! ASU Visits AHS JRS and SRS On Tuesday, November 7th, Arkansas State University Admissions Counselor Gregory Hawkins met with Acorn High School juniors and seniors to provide an overview of ASU academic programs, scholarships and deadlines, student and campus life organizations, housing and dining options for students. AHS Students Tour UAFS Campus On Wednesday, November 1st, a group of Acorn High School juniors and seniors toured the University of Arkansas Fort Smith campus. The guided tour of the campus included a view of campus housing, dining, student union, health and wellness center, fine arts facilities, learning commons/library, health professions and many of the campus facilities and landmarks. Following the tour, UAFS Ambassadors provided a presentation and overview of UAFS admissions, academic programs, scholarships and deadlines, student and campus life organizations, housing and dining options for students. Prizes were given during the question and answer portion of the presentation. Thank you to the University of Arkansas Fort Smith ambassadors and admissions staff for a great tour and presentation! ORSD Spotlight on Alumni! Acorn High School Alumna, Kiersten Larucci completed an Associate of General Studies degree from the University of Fort Smith in spring 2023. She is continuing her studies as a junior at UAFS and pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Leadership with a minor in Business Administration. NPC Visits AHS JRS and SRS On Thursday, October 19th, National Park College met with Acorn High School juniors and seniors to provide an overview of their campus programs and student life organizations. Caysie Martin, Director of Admissions and Student Life Coordinator began the presentation of NPC academic programs, scholarships and deadlines, student and campus life organizations, housing and dining options for students. Pam Castleberry, Apprenticeship Coordinator provided information on each of the apprenticeship programs, criteria, requirements and workforce opportunities aligned with apprenticeship programs.
