
AHS Choir & AES 5th/6th Grades presented "Jingle Bell Jukebox" to a standing room only crowd in Mary Davis Gym on Monday, December 13th at 7:00 p.m.
Acorn Choir Director Valerie Couch and the choir groups have put in countless hours of practice and rehearsals of singing, choreography and decorating to create the performance and production. Holiday classics sung and performed included: Jingle Bell Jukebox, Frosty Hand Jive, It's The Most Wonderful Time of the Year, Jingle Bells Rock, Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!, You're A Mean One Mr. Grinch, Sleigh Ride, Santa's On His Way Medley, Silent Night, and Comin' Up Christmas Time.
Such a joyous and festive time for the students and families in celebrating the holiday season!





Acorn FCCLA had their annual Christmas party after school today. Good food, fun, and fellowship was enjoyed by all.

Acorn vs Mansfield @ Acorn
Acorn JV Tigers lost the game against Mansfield JV Tigers with a final score of 23-35. Leading scorer for Acorn was Paul Puckett with 12 points.
Acorn Lady Tigers got the win over Mansfield Lady Tigers with a final score of 56-41. Sophie Strasner led the way with 13 points.
Acorn Tigers won 61-32 against Mansfield Tigers. Damian Bohlman was the leading scorer with 29 points.
This is the first conference game for both teams, 1-0. Next game is Tuesday, December 14th at Westside Johnson County.

The 5th and 6th Grade students along with the Acorn High School Choir will be performing the musical Jingle Bell Jukebox tonight (Dec. 13th) in the Mary Davis Gym at 7:00 pm. CHANGE OF PLAN : Students need to arrive by 6:30 and meet in Old Main (the Old Cafeteria Room) for attendance and to line up (Not the Storm Shelter). They should be wearing their T-shirt they will receive today, Santa hat they will receive today, blue jeans and white socks. We will have an old fashioned Sock Hop dance for students and parents following the performance. Hope to see you there!


On Thursday, December 9th, UAFS Admissions Advisor Peyton Lazzo conducted a presentation with AHS juniors and seniors on college majors, programs and services offered at UA Fort Smith. The presentation also included student life organizations and campus life opportunities for students. She also reviewed scholarship requirements and deadlines and encouraged students to tour the campus on preview days.

Caysie Martin, NPC Student Recruiter met with juniors and seniors on Tuesday, December 7th to present information to students about academic, athletic, and extracurricular programs and services offered at National Park College. She also gave an overview of academic and foundation scholarships and deadlines.

Montgomery County American Legion Post #313 awarded by the VFW Post Commander Dixie Fecho presented the first ever Law Enforcement Officer Award to Andrew Thompson. Officer Thompson is a member of the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office and currently serves as the school resource officer at the Oden School Campus. Congratulations! We appreciate you!


Officer Duane Harvey was recently honored by the American Legion VFW as Police Officer of the Year. Congratulations, Officer Harvey! Ouachita River School District appreciates all you do for the District and the constituents we serve!

The Acorn Wrestling Tigers and Lady Tigers competed at Greenwood on Thursday, December 9th and wrestled some individual matches against Greenwood, Rogers and Rogers Heritage.
The teams total combined record for the matches at Greenwood was 6 wins and 7 losses.

AES families,
Monday, December 13th will be our family literacy night starting at 5:00 PM. We have planned a fun Escape Room experience and would like to invite you to come. If you are not able to make it by 5:00 PM, don’t worry you can still come. Since we will be sending families in small groups, that means that your family will be able to come any time between 5:00-5:45 PM. The last round of groups will be sent at 5:45 PM.
Also, if you have a 5th or 6th grader performing that night you will have plenty of time to make it to their performance.
We would like to get a headcount to make sure we have plenty of cookies. Please let us know if you plan to attend and how many family members on this Google form.

United Welding Institute Showcases Welding Certifications & Training
On Monday, November 29th, Jeremiah Humphrey United Welding Institute Staff met with juniors and seniors to present information to students about welding certifications & training, scholarship events, and careers in welding offered through United Welding Institute (UWI) in Pottsville. Acorn FCCLA gathered stocking stuffer items over the last two weeks and stuffed stockings for CASA today. CASA will distribute the stockings to local foster families during their annual open house.





Attention AES Parents:
Our 2021 “Old Fashioned Christmas” program for K-4 is tonight in the Mary Davis Gym. Kindergarten and 1st grade students need to be dropped off in front of Old Main at 5:45 PM. They will meet their teacher in the Acorn Elementary gym (old cafeteria).
2nd, 3rd and 4th graders need to be dropped off in front of the Old Main building at 6:45 PM. They will meet their teacher in the Acorn Elementary gym (old cafeteria).
Please have your child wear a Christmas colored shirt.
After each performance students will remain on the bleachers and you may pick up your child and sign them out. Their teachers will have the sign out sheets.

On Tuesday, November 30th, Vilma Espinoza SAU Admissions Counselor meet with juniors and seniors to present information to students about academic, athletic, and extracurricular programs and services as well as scholarships offered at Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia.
