Mabry Named to AAC for the Education of Children with Disabilities On October 17th, Leo Mabry, Acorn High School Special Education Teacher was named to serve as a member of the Arkansas Advisory Council for the Education of Children with Disabilities. The role of the council is to advise the Department of Education of unmet needs within the state in the education of children with disabilities; comment publicly on any rules or regulations proposed by the state regarding the education of children with disabilities; advise the department in developing evaluations and reporting on data to the Secretary of Education under 20 U.S.C. § 1418; advise the department in developing corrective action plans to address findings identified in federal monitoring reports under Title 20, Chapter 33, Subchapter II of the United States Code; and advise the department in developing and implementing policies relating to the coordination of services for children with disabilities. University of Arkansas Presentation to AHS JRS & SRS On October 17th, University of Arkansas Admissions Counselor Allie Taylor met with Acorn High School juniors and seniors interested in college majors offered at the Fayetteville campus. Acorn Schools’ Host 2023 Harvest Festival On the evening of Friday, October 13th, Acorn Public Schools hosted the annual Harvest Festival event. The event is a tradition for Acorn Public Schools and held each fall on the Acorn campus to provide an engaging, fun, and celebratory experience for the whole family and community. Each grade level, from preschool to grade 12, hosts games or activities to raise money for grade level special projects as well as to enhance and enrich classroom experiences for students. ORSD Spotlight on Alumni! Acorn High School Alumna, Madison Blair graduated in the Class of 2023 from the University of Arkansas Rich Mountain with an Associate of General Studies.
