Seniors, I am very sorry this national pandemic has happened on your senior year.  I wanted to send this message in order to encourage you at a time that I know most of you need it.  Know as soon as things are back to normal, ORSD will do everything in our power to honor you all for your dedication, accomplishments, and achievements.  I look forward to your graduation and proms!  I don't know when that will happen yet but Lord willing, we will have those events as soon as possible.  Right now the best thing to do is to stay at home and distance ourselves for one another in order to slow down the spread of this serious virus.   Again, I am very sorry that this has happened to you all on your senior year.  That is certainly not fair, but life is not always fair, as you know.  What matters the most is how we treat each other during this tough time in our nation.  Please know I am proud of you and how you have conducted yourselves this year.  Now is the time we need you the most to do what is right. Please stay safe.  I am praying for you all daily.  Hang in there! Respectfully,  Jerrall A. AHS Parents: We have had several questions about intervention this year during 8th period. This year, intervention is a true, purposeful intervention. Purposeful intervention means that the needs of the students are met based upon missing or weak skills or standards. It is not about bad grades or needing homework help. The intervention teachers at Acorn High School have put together pretests to determine missing or weak skill areas and are actively teaching those specific skills and standards to our students during 8th period. The benefits of this, seen on scores so far, have been great! We continue to see growth, which is always the goal! The teachers are working hard to fill in the gaps. However, many of you have asked about homework help for your students, and we understand that completely. Everyone needs help occasionally. Homework help is available before school from 7:45-8:00 AM or after school. Any of our teachers will be glad to help, but that is not the purpose of 8th period this year.

This application was provided in the student enrollment packet that was provided on the first day of school. A more convenient application is located online at the following link: https://secure.ezmealapp.com/ApplicationScreen.aspx Your meal status is beneficial in two ways. 1. Free or reduced meal status provides a financial benefit to your family by reducing the cost of your child's meals at school if you qualify. 2. Free or reduced meal status provides federal funding for the education of our students. ORSD is striving to provide our students with nutritious and delicious meals so they will be prepared to learn!
