IMPORTANT WEBSITES

MR. EDWARDS’ CLASSROOM RULES, IMPORTANT STUDENT HANDBOOK INFORMATION, AND GRADING SYSTEM

English 7                                                                  English 8

CLASSROOM RULES

  1. Bring all needed materials to class.
  2. Be in your seat and ready to work when the bell rings.
  3. Obtain permission before speaking or leaving your seat.
  4. Respect and be polite to all people, and respect other’s property.
  5. Obey all school rules.

STUDENT HANDBOOK INFORMATION

Please read and understand the following items in the Student Handbook

  • ATTENDENCE POLICY AND ABSENCES
  • ACCEPTABLE COMPUTER/INTERNET USE POLICY
  • GRADING SYSTEM
  • HOMEWORK
  • GENERAL CONDUCT, CLASSROOM MISBEHAVIOR, AND VIOLATION OF CLASSROOM RULES
  • STUDENT DISCIPLINE GUIDELINES FOR KINDERGARTEN THROUGH 12TH GRADES

GRADING SYSTEM

The classroom grading system consists of two components.  The first component is a grading scale. The second consists of a grading formula.

Grading Scale and Numerical Values

A             90-100

B             80-89

C             70-79

D             60-69

F             0-59

Grading Formula—The grading formula has been designed to maximize the ability to accurately calculate your performance at any given point of that nine week grading period.  Homework is 30% of the total average, tests are 30% of the total nine week average, and Accelerated Reading is 40% of the total nine week average.  *Note:  Homework that is one day late will be figured at 70% of full credit.  Late homework will receive a grade of zero if not turned in the day after it is due.  **On a case by case basis, students participating in Oden High School Gifted and Talented activities may be exempt from classroom homework assignments when their enrichment program schedule conflicts with their regular classroom schedule.

Please call me day or night if you have any questions.  Home (870)326-4872 Cell (479)216-4261 Work (870)326-4311—William T. Edwards II
