Educational History:

I graduated from high school in Farmington, New Mexico, way back when.  Then, I moved to Arkansas and went to college at UALR for a period of time.  I always loved Arkansas - my first home.  Next, I moved to Nevada where I spent quite a few years attending the University of Nevada, Reno.  In 2001 I returned to the Mena area and received an Associate of Arts from RMCC.  Several years later I resumed my education at Western Governors University where I received a Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education.   As you can see, I have been here and there, but mostly here!

Degrees and Certifications:

Associate of Arts from Rich Mountain Community College

Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood from Western Governors University

Current Position:

This is my second year teaching Math and Science to talented third graders at Acorn Elementary School.   Before that I was an Early Head Start Teacher and a Mental Health Paraprofessional.

Personal Information:

When I'm not teaching or learning something new I like to enjoy the great outdoors!  I also love to build things.  My son, Matthew, and my daughter, Abigail, helped me build a chicken coop recently.  We used LOTS of math and had to re-think it several times.  It was very satisfying.  We have what I like to call a micro-farm.  That is we have a sheep, hens, and a worm farm, along with our domestic pets.  I also like to take my kids to the lake, play sports, and bike.  Someday I would like to have horses.
